I took this image on Lafayette st and Broome st and what makes this stand out is that the entire Lafayette st from Bowling green to Broom st has a lot of really nice artwork on buildings. A few stores are open that look very fancy and expensive. There are clothing stores with nice dresses and other places with art galleries. By having this graffiti at this specific spot I think the image represents resistance to materialism and the idea that we must buy to satisfy or impress. When products are advistized by certain companies such as perfume/cologne or alchol there is ideology in commercials that express if you use a product it can change the way people view you and the way you live your life. The phrase is saying stop being materlisic and what you have does not define who you are as a person.
