While walking on the first floor of the Thomas Hunter building, I happened upon a Palestinian flag outside of Room 105, where student clubs such as Palestine Solidarity Alliance regularly hold meetings. This flag represents a pan-Arab movement that was spurred by resistance to Zionism. Since 1948, nearly 5 million Palestinians have been afflicted and displaced by Israeli apartheid. For a number of years, possessing or displaying this flag in an Israeli territory was punishable by law. Nearly 70 years later, this flag still provokes political discourse. By having it on display in an area as public as a college hallway, the students of this club are showcasing what resistance is all about: staying true to your identity, beliefs and values, no matter the political climate.
